Apostille in Denmark – Ministry of Foreign Affairs, handled for you
We obtain apostilles from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs so your Danish documents are valid in 120+ Hague Convention countries.
An apostille is a standardised certificate that confirms the authenticity of the signature and seal on a public document. It allows Danish documents to be used in every country that has joined the 1961 Hague Convention, with no further legalisation.
In Denmark, apostilles are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Udenrigsministeriet) in Copenhagen. Private documents – such as powers of attorney, translations or copies – often have to be certified by a notary first. We handle the whole chain in one place.

Frequently asked questions
Which countries accept an apostille?
Every country that has joined the Hague Convention – more than 120, including all EU countries, the USA, the UK, China, Japan, India and most of South America. Countries outside the convention require embassy legalisation.
Should the document be translated before or after the apostille?
It depends on the receiving country. Some want the apostille on the original and a translation of both; others require the apostille on the translation itself. We advise based on the country's rules.
Can I get an apostille on a copy?
Yes, once the copy has been certified by a notary. The notary's signature can then be apostilled.
Do EU citizens need an apostille?
EU Regulation 2016/1191 removes the requirement for a range of public documents between EU countries. Many recipients still ask for one, though – we help you find out.
