Embassy & consulate legalisation in Denmark

For countries outside the Hague Convention: ministry, chamber of commerce and embassy – we queue so you don't have to.

Countries that have not joined the Hague Convention do not accept the apostille. Instead, documents go through a legalisation chain: usually a notary, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and finally the destination country's embassy or consulate in Denmark or a neighbouring country.

Every embassy has its own rules on fees, forms, opening hours and translation – and they change often. We know the procedures and make sure the document is accepted the first time.

Frequently asked questions

When do I need embassy legalisation instead of an apostille?

When the receiving country is not part of the Hague Convention – for example the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt and Vietnam. We always check the current status.

How long does legalisation take?

Usually 1–3 weeks depending on the embassy. Some process documents the same day, others only on certain weekdays.

Does every country have an embassy in Denmark?

No. Several countries cover Denmark from their embassy in Stockholm, Oslo or Berlin. We handle submissions there as well.
